Great location, stunning view and setting, friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful decor and presentation of the hotel. Fabulous food and great service - Enjoyed food and drink from the main restaurant and cafe in the main foyer (who had the most lovely staff). Really well priced. Really liked how helpful the reception staff were in responding to our initial disappointment / concern with the first room (Whilst we knew we had booked a room with a balcony that had a partial view of the water - What we didn't know until we went into the room was that it was a corner room, that had another balcony in front of ours and that other guests could be on their balcony and look into our room be in front of us). This was managed really well and did not make us feel awkward or embarrassed for raising our concerns / disappointment / how uncomfortable we felt. Another room was offered (which we accepted), whilst we lost our balcony we felt more private. The free use of the kayaks was a real bonus and thoroughly enjoyed. Great fun and a lovely way to explore the coast line. Able to see so many seals (from a safe / respectful distance). Great facilities just a short drive into Sooke.

Location was excellent. On water with beautiful views, and close to town on the main road. We arrived in the dark, and it was easy to find. Hotel has three places to eat, so it was nice to relax after we arrived and go to dinner in the dining room. The Spa and pool looked nice, although we didn't use either, I would check them out next visit. Rooms were large with a balcony. Had fridge and microwave. Could make coffee in room, but a lovely coffee shop was in lobby.. The hotel is used for conventions, but because the conference rooms are on the bottom floor, you don't feel like you are staying in a Convention Center. They also have a laundry room that guests can use. We travel "carry on" so I really appreciated that feature.

The lobby and covered porch are beautiful touches at this hotel. Wonderfully decorated with spectacular views. The views from the room were ok—we could see the water from two small windows on each side of the room but the center of the view (between the windows) was a long stretch of wall that certainly took away from the view. Also the walls were paper thin and we heard our very loud, very drunk neighbors for late into the evening. More/better soundproofing would be helpful. The restaurant had terrible service—we waited 1 hr, 53 minutes for our food with hungry kids. The waitress said she was busy but every table that was seated after us was served before we were.

You can't beat the view from the only hotel in Sooke. Located right on the harbour, it's a first class hotel which ensures you are treated well. The lady at the Island Tarts Cafe is absolutely delightful and made our visit by noticing that my 7 year old grandson had a loose front tooth. She mentioned that she was also a dental hygienist and could get that tooth out with a little tug. Every morning that we saw her there, she had such positive energy and was so engaging. People really do make the experience. Also, if you chose to not have your room serviced, you were given a $10 restaurant coupon for 'going green'. That was an unexpected bonus!

Donna

The location, large open lobby space with all its amenities. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable. We had to pay for an upgrade as the rooms we were given overlooked the parking lot. They said it was because we used an outside booking. We just decided that we came here for the view. Did not realize that because we used Booking.com that we wouldn't have a choice or at least did not see an option. Its a very beautiful hotel with a lot of great amenities. We ate dinner and breakfast in their restaurant and the food and staff were excellent.
